2-Alarm Warehouse Fire in Denver Harbor / Port Houston Area

2-Alarm Warehouse Fire
WHEN:

INJURIES:
No reported injuries
PROPERTY SAVED:
Firefighters prevented spread of the fire to other structures.
DAMAGE:
$1,200,000 in estimated damage
CAUSE:
Unintentional - Electrical Short
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Firefighters arrived on scene with heavy smoke coming from a large warehouse and began an offensive attack on the fire through a walk-through door on the side. A partial roof collapse occurred and all crews were ordered out of the building. A second alarm was requested and the fire was extinguished. Firefighters worked to put out several hot spots and stop the fire from spreading.

HFD Hazmat was on scene and monitored the conditions. It was determined that there were various mixed chemicals inside the building including organic salt and Sulphan asphalt. There were no significant readings on all meters.

The building was ventilated and HFD Arson was requested to determine the cause. Firefighters from Stations 41, 17, 19, 34, 45, 27, 39, 43, Hazmat, 18, 20, 24 and 15 responded to this incident.
