2-Alarm Apartment Fire in Westbury Area

Apartment Fire

DAMAGE:
$400 thousand in estimated damage
CAUSE:
The cause was ruled as accidental by HFD Arson investigators.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Firefighters arrived on scene with smoke coming out of the vents of an apartment building. The fire was located and crews began an attack while conducting a primary search. A second alarm was requested and there was a roof collapse. Firefighters were ordered out and crews switched to a defensive attack on the fire. The fire was controlled and the American Red Cross was notified to assist the displaced residents. An inspector was called due to multiple unknown lines running on the roof tops of the other buildings and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Crews from Stations 48, 15, 21, 28, 59, 68, 37, 47, 80, 82, 83, 6, 24, 57, Hazmat and Rescue 10 responded to this incident.
