2-Alarm Apartment Fire in Midtown
WHAT:
Apartment Fire
WHEN:

INJURIES:
1 firefighter suffered from heat exhaustion
PROPERTY SAVED:
$2,957,902 in estimated property saved
DAMAGE:
$400 thousand in estimated damage
CAUSE:
HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause of the fire as accidental.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Firefighters arrived on scene to find a fire on what appeared to be the roof of a 5-story apartment building. The crews from Stations 8 and 25 went to the roof and HFD Tower 6 was set up for aerial operations.

The actual fire was on the roof and extended to the roof parapet and down into the roof decking. The crew of Tower 6 knocked down the main body of the fire. The firefighters from Station 8 and 25 completed suppression efforts with a handline. Primary searches were completed and firefighters checked for fire extension. Firefighters assisted residents out of their apartments and ventilated the building.

Multiple City representatives were also on scene to assist the residents and management, including those from the Mayor’s Office, Housing and Community Development, and an HFD Fire Marshal to confer with the building manager and engineer.  

Firefighters from Stations 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 15, 16, 18, 19, 21, 23, 25, 26, 28, 30, 33, 37, 40, 46 and 57 responded to this incident.
