Throughout the year, the Highlands Biological Foundation (HBF) hosts events and runs programs to support and raise funds for the three pillars of the Highland Biological Station (HBS): The Nature Center, Botanical Garden, and Laboratory. Your participation allows for the care and expansion of the Botanical Garden’s plant collection, improvements to the exhibits and programs of the Nature Center, and support for research and education conducted through the Laboratory. Subscribers get the first look at programs, events, and other special offerings provided by HBF and HBS.
Highlands Nature Center was founded as the museum of the Highlands Biological Station in 1927. This garden was established in 1962 as a refuge and demonstration garden for the diverse flora of the southern Appalachians and its unique communities.
