Climate model shows large-scale wind and solar farms in the Sahara increase rain and vegetation
In this study, we used a climate model with dynamic vegetation to show that large-scale installations of wind and solar farms covering the Sahara lead to a local temperature increase and more than a twofold precipitation increase, especially in the Sahel, through increased surface friction and reduced albedo.

BHGE delivers first-of-its-kind digital transformation of Turkey’s refinery and petrochemicals projects
Istanbul, Turkey: Baker Hughes, a GE company is starting the rollout of its Asset Performance Management (APM) software to deliver efficiency and productivity for STAR Refinery A.Ş. (STAR) and Petkim Petrokimya Holding A.Ş. (Petkim), both owned by State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR). As part of the Asset Management System Establishment and Implementation Project, this marks the first-of-its-kind digital project by BHGE in Turkey and the first partnership globally with SOCAR.
