Letter from the Editor: August is Membership Month – Let’s Make It Count
August is Membership and New Club Development Month — a time to reflect on how we grow Rotary, but more importantly, how we make it magnetic. This year, Hunger Strike 2025 is helping clubs do just that. What started as a simple fundraiser has evolved into a community engagement platform — designed to attract new members, re-energize existing ones, and connect Rotary clubs directly to their neighborhoods. With 50% of net funds raised going to each club’s selected hunger-relief partner, the impact is real, local, and personal.

Elevating Leadership in District 5030: The RISE Program Builds Rotary’s Future
Rotary District 5030 is proud to spotlight one of its most impactful leadership development initiatives: RISE — Rotarians Inspired to Succeed & Engage. Designed to identify and empower emerging leaders, RISE is shaping the future of Rotary one cohort at a time. Each year, clubs across our district nominate a rising Rotarian—often a President-Elect, committee chair, or standout volunteer—who demonstrates passion, potential, and a willingness to grow. These individuals are invited to participate in an 11-week hybrid leadership experience, combining virtual learning, in-person gatherings, and mentorship rooted in Rotary values.

Updates on RI’s Council on Legislation
Thank you again to all the Rotarians who attended my online Council on Legislation (“COL”) ‘Town Halls’ in February and March. Your questions and feedback about pending legislative enactments were helpful as I prepared for the once-every-three-years Council meeting in April. Representatives from 470 districts reviewed 86 enactments, approving 30 and opposing 37. Seven enactments were referred to RI Board, and 12 enactments were withdrawn.
