GENDER MATTERS AND CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION:  NAP GLOBAL NETWORK AT WOMEN DELIVER 
From June 3 to 6, the NAP Global Network Secretariat was in Vancouver
for the Women Deliver 2019 Conference, the world’s largest conference on gender equality and the health, rights and well-being of girls and women in the 21st century. Angie Dazé, Associate with the International Institute for Sustainable Development, presented a Power Talk during the conference addressing gender equality in climate change adaptation. BLOG SERIES: ENGAGING THE PRIVATE SECTOR IN NAP PROCESSES
Following the first installment of our five-part series
on engaging the private sector in NAP processes, part two looks at why information sharing is key to engaging businesses in the NAP process, while the third blog explores different ways that governments can help the private sector overcome financial barriers to investing in adaptation. REFLECTIONS FROM LIMA: M&E SYSTEMS FOR ADAPTING TO CLIMATE CHANGE ARE ONLY AS GOOD AS THEY ARE USABLE
With an evolving understanding of what makes people vulnerable to climate change impacts and what to do about it, ideas around what should be monitored and evaluated (M&E) also need to evolve. Following a recent NAP Global Network workshop on M&E in Lima, Peru, this blog looks at the complexities behind their design and implementation. It is also available in Spanish.

GUEST BLOG: ADAPTATION ACTIONS IN NDC PARTNERSHIP PLANS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALIGNMENT WITH NAP PROCESSES 
Last April, the NAP Global Network reviewed
NDC Partnership Plans to identify adaptation actions, support for the actions and gaps in support. This blog, which was originally posted on the NDC Partnership’s website, offers reflections from this report while exploring opportunities to improve NDC–NAP alignment. 

NETWORK SECRETARIAT IN ACTION
  • From July 9 to 11, the Secretariat will be in Rotterdam, Netherlands to host a Peer Learning Summit (PLS) that facilitates sustained South–South peer learning and exchange. This PLS will look at how countries can engage the private sector in their NAP processes, with a focus on micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the agriculture and tourism sectors.
     
  • From June 17 to 28, the NAP Global Network Secretariat is in Bonn, Germany, for the Bonn Climate Change Conference (SB50). Find out more about the events we are participating in during the conference.
     
  • From June 26 to 28, we will present work on adaptation, transformation and knowledge at the Action Research of the Americas Conference in Montreal at McGill University.
     
  • On June 25, we facilitated the session, Whose Resilient City? Making room for social justice in climate action, at the ICLEI European Urban Resilience Forum in Bonn, Germany.
     
  • From June 6 to 8, we participated in a workshop and public event in Kiel, Germany on Narratives and Practices of Environmental Justice hosted by the University of Kiel.
NAPS IN THE NEWS
  • Ghana developed a NAP Framework to guide the country’s climate change adaptation measures.
     
  • Bhutan is taking strides to advance its NAP with a focus on water.
     
  • New Zealand’s climate change minister underscored the importance of NAPs following the forced migration of local community members.
