2020 Bizon Community Tour
I’m Kimberly BIZON and I am running for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District in the 2020 Election. I launched my 2020 Community Outreach Tour at the January Utica City Council meeting.

Why Utica as my first spot.

I made Utica my first stop for a few reasons:
  1. I graduated from Utica High School and appreciate the great educational opportunities that Utica High School offers and offered me. I am an advocate for education and I believe Public Education is key to ensuring a bright and fulfilling future for all of our children.
  2. One of my first volunteers and supporters has been asking me to come and visit “his town” and I couldn’t say No 😊. Needless to say, I believe I "surprised" him and that was a good thing. I like nice surprises myself.
  3. The data came in and we won all 3 precincts in Utica. I intend to be engaged in, better understand, and act on the challenges that face Utica’s people and the community. I am here listening and learning.

What I learned at the City Council Meeting.
  • The Board approved a Marijuana Ordinance Request with one change.
  • The Board approved a new business owner’s license to “Vino & Vibes.” They will be serving small plates as well as Vino.
  • Flickinger Elementary Parent Group will have their 5k run and raffle.
  • The DIA will be showing some of their murals (inside and out) throughout Utica's community.
  • The police department will be getting new chairs, the older ones were unsafe and worn out.
  • The friends of Foster Kids presented an appreciation award to Major Thom Dionne for his continued support.
  • NOTICE: If you know of anyone in need of FREE Accounting Services, please contact Accounting Aid Society @313-556-1920. This service is available to those who make less than $56,000 per year.
  • And finally, the Board granted money to community charities. All of the organizations will provide quality services to Utica. The board focused on “local” groups and businesses.
I was able to introduce myself. I commented how the board ran a good, organized meeting and I look forward to visiting again soon.

I believe a good Representative listens to people and the communities. Each community has its own "heartbeat," and has its own challenges. I believe in our communities and will fight for the people who live in them. Please vote for me on August 4, 2020.
