ON GRAVEL

Everyone, it seems, is talking about gravel and for good reason, it’s not just fun it’s where bikes were first pedaled. On our blog we take a look back at how bicyclists paved America’s roads but are now veering off of them back onto the roads-less-traveled. Click here to read that story.

Have you registered for Cycle Oregon GRAVEL yet?

REGISTER FOR THE YEAR'S BEST RIDES
Sure, each Cycle Oregon event this year will be an incredible one-of-a-kind bicycle adventure. But what few people realize is that these events are also the perfect excuse for getting out of things you’d rather not do. Yard work? Sorry, gotta train. In-laws planning a visit? Oops, already have a bike thing on the calendar – signed up way back in March and really can’t miss it.

See how well that works? Give it a try!

MY FAVORITE ROUTE - KEVIN PRENTICE

Thirty-two years of rides means there’s a big library of Cycle Oregon routes. While there are some that stand out it’s safe to say there isn’t a universal favorite. Some of us like it flat and fast, some like to climb. Some like the wide open spaces and others enjoy the cover of the forest. Or maybe it was just that one perfect day with a great snack spot just as you wanted a treat.

There’s no one better to kick off a new column on our blog, My Favorite Route, than one of the crew at Ride With GPS. If you were at the 2020 Kickoff Party you met Kevin Prentice and maybe he even told you about his favorite ride with us. In this post he shares the experience of that ride along with tips on how to use Ride With GPS to go on better rides more often.

VOLUNTEERS MAKE THE WHEELS GO 'ROUND
It’s no secret that Cycle Oregon has the most incredible volunteers year after year. This highly-motivated, always-smiling army of incredibly hardworking, helpful people are there at every event making sure the riders have an incredible time. And the volunteers must be having a pretty good time too, since so many of them come back year after year.

If you or anyone you know is interested in volunteering, we’d love to hear from you. This link should answer most of your questions and you can fill out an application there as well.  We are hosting a new volunteer information night on March 18th that is open to anyone interested in volunteering for the first time. Come on by and learn what it’s like to wear the yellow hats.
