This summer we enjoyed some time with our sponsors and teammates at various events. We also worked on some planning for recruitment of new team members as we begin the new school year.

Texas Instruments
In late July, we gave one of our Crusader Level sponsors, Texas Instruments, a “lessons learned” presentation and demonstration of this year’s robot, Catwoman. Everyone there showed great interest in our robot. We had a wonderful time reflecting on the team’s progression over the year. Thank you Texas Instruments for all your support!

FisherCats Game with NBT Bank
Our Crown Level sponsor, NBT Bank, let us use their suite in the Delta Dental Stadium to watch the NH FisherCats game on August 15th. It was a fun and spirited team building experience for everyone that attended. Thank you NBT Bank!

FIRST at the FisherCats with BOB 319
A friend of ours, Team 319 Big Bad Bob, did a demo with us at the NH FisherCats game on August 26th. Both teams started off by grabbing cubes and attempting to stack them. Then, our bot started malfunctioning. First, our wrist wouldn’t pivot. Then the elevator carriage motor started to smoke so we had to unplug it. These problems led to more complications such as the wrist being incapable of picking up cubes.
Even with the technical issues, we were able to interact with many fans at the game and enjoyed our time with BOB.

Recruitment
This summer we brainstormed different ways we could recruit more students to our team. We worked on flyers, and multiple promotional materials. We showcased our team at the freshman orientation this year by distributing and hanging the flyers around the school. We also displayed our robots (Tumbler, Two-Face, and Catwoman) and their winning banners. Team members were ready to answer any questions the freshmen may have had.

Robot Repairs
Over the summer, we had to make repairs to our robots for various demos and events. On Tumbler, our 2016 robot, we had to ensure that the controller connected the joysticks to the wheels. We also stripped down much of the pneumatics and electronics on Two-Face, our 2017 bot, and we will continue to work on Catwoman until she is competition ready.

More Recruitment
Seeing as it’s the beginning of the new school year, we are trying to recruit new members to our team. Any students who show interest in robotics and its many wonderful opportunities are informed to join through flyers, orientations, friends, and/or team members. We plan to hold two New Student meetings on 9/20 and 9/27 to introduce new members to the team.

Off-season
During this off-season, we are planning to go to the Governor’s Cup competition at Plymouth State University on October 13th, and co-host our annual RiverRage event here at Memorial with Team 131 C.H.A.O.S. from Central High School and Team 501 PowerKnights from West/Goffstown High Schools on October 27th.
