If there were any doubts about re-establishing an in-person happy hour downtown, they were squashed by 5:30 pm on July 8th.
50 Free beer tickets compliments of Mercer + $600 in beer sponsorship sent this launch party to the moon!
It was quintessential TNT all night long:
Barry, the bar manager, told us we could take over the elevated space every week from here to eternity.
There were over 15 people at Mercer 30 minutes before the event even started, “I like how you told me it starts at 6 pm, but it’s already full,” Barry laughed.
Multiple people showed up early because they had ‘business meetings’ from 5-6 pm. It was hard to determine the difference between the happy hour beers and business meetings.
Parents of TNT Summit finalist Cherry Health joined us and are interested in joining the investment team for the fall summit.
We ran out of our initial 50 free beers by 6:30 pm.
And the TNT community stepped up. Literally, the last beer ticket I handed out was to Cory Chan of Moody’s Tax, who responded: “I’d like to buy a round for the party!”
Zack gave a speech that looked more like excited hand waving.
People were taking selfies with local politicians.
“Thanks for the party – Last night was awesome,” said one attendee.
“Met a lot of really cool people,” said the CEO of a company that makes advanced sensors for the mining industry.
The entire Startup Edmonton crew, including new team member Nathan was in the house. Nathan gave some attendees a tour:

The new Director of Business Development at Innovate Edmonton was having informal conversations about improving local programming with entrepreneurs.
Two guys we've never met excitedly told me that they just closed $250,000 from a local Angel for their in-stadium food delivery app.
“I plan to come back most Thursdays. I work nearby,” said the founders of a restaurant deal menu app, the fierce female team selling biodegradable menstrual pads, and literally everyone else at the party!
Some TNT Investors showed up after hours. A securities lawyer rolled in at 11 pm!
We didn’t roll out till after midnight.
Looking forward to doing it again this week – thanks for joining, and come back soon!
