So many printed 12" vinyl jacket styles to choose from!

You may already be familiar with everything the online store offers artists for cassette and CD releases, but we also have a ton of vinyl products and services available! Our crown jewel is our vinyl jacket printing service, using digital or ultra high quality offset press. With so many different options to choose from, we thought we’d share a quick guide.

Let’s start with the standard and most popular product— vinyl jackets with spine! You can’t go wrong with this classic approach, printed using either digital press for short-run runs or offset press for releases of around 300 units or more. With full bleed printing you won’t see white margins at the borders of your artwork.

Vinyl jackets with spine come with AQ gloss coating to deter fingerprints and smudges, 20pt board, and assembly with gluing. We have more options available for offset print, such as matte AQ gloss coating for a non-reflective effect, as well as reverse board printing.

Similarly, we also have printed vinyl jackets without spines. You most often see this variant used for 12” singles or EPs, appealing particularly to DJs who place their records in crates facing outwards instead of home listeners who have the spines facing out on their shelves. These are printed using our Komori offset press, and have all the product options and add-ons of the aforementioned vinyl jackets with spine.

Speaking of DJs, this is an essential packaging format for 12” dance singles. Quickly peep the label sticker for the track title or side at your next DJ gig using printed vinyl jackets with holes. Comes with all the options included for offset press jacket printing, and your choice between jackets with or without spines.

Want to put together a nice LP while maintaining a nice budget? Check out our printed vinyl foldovers! All you need is a paper innersleeve for the record and a polybag for the jacket and you’re set. You most often see this style of packaging in crustpunk and hardcore releases, assembled on your apartment floor DIY style. Your choice of single-sided or double-sided digital print, the latter giving a ton of room for artwork, lyrics, and liner notes.

Finally, last but not least, the printed 12” J-card. This is the most economical option of the bunch, but also the most unique. It’s similar to a cassette J-card (which, if you’re a subscriber to this newsletter, you may be very familiar with.) The back panel wraps around the reverse of the record, almost appearing like a Japanese obi-strip. Ideally it would be assembled with an innersleeve and a polybag to protect the record.
