Beloved Friends & Family,

As fruit ripens on the trees here in the Sangre de Cristos (apricots!  plums!) my thoughts begin turning back to life on the road.  At the end of this month I’m heading to the celebrated Decatur Book Festival near Atlanta, thanks to a personal invitation from my friend Barbara Brown Taylor, NYT bestselling author, with whom I will be giving a talk called “Wild Mercy and Holy Envy” in honor of both of our most recent trouble-making books.

DATE: Sunday, September 1, 2019 TIME: 12:00 - 12:45 pm LOCATION: First Baptist Decatur Sanctuary presented by AJC
TITLE: Wild Mercy and Holy Envy
EVENT PRESENTER(S): Barbara Brown Taylor, Mirabai Starr.

Good news!  Several spaces have opened up for our September deepening retreat at Ghost Ranch.  Our general guideline has been that people who attend this gathering have studied writing with me in the past, but if you are working on a longer piece and seeking a supportive space to drop down writing roots in a circle of other writers in one of the most inspiring places on the planet, you are welcome to join us.

Wild Mercy – Living the Fierce and Tender Wisdom of the Women Mystics
September 27, 2019 - September 29, 2019

I am returning to The Rowe Center to share the wild and merciful women mystics I love in one of the most beautiful spaces I've seen. To learn more and to register visit here.

In early October (Saturday, October 5, 2019 9:00 AM 4:00 PM) I will be offering a daylong retreat again at the Stillpoint Institute in Southern California, a community that has grown deeply dear to me over the years, followed by a reading and book signing at the legendary hotbed of justice, All Saints Episcopal Church (Sunday, October 6 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm).  On that trip I will be meeting with one of my heroes, Fr. Greg Boyle, who, as it turns out, loves my books too which makes me swoon.  And I will accompany my dear friend Sister Greta to the LA County Jail where she masterfully ministers to the incarcerated, as I wrote about in Wild Mercy.

And then a week with the Fetzer Institute in Kalamazoo, then Infinity in Chicago, then Spiritual Directors International in Seattle, then White’s Chapel in Texas, then a rest over winter (when we plan to go visit my mom in the Yucatan and Ganga Das’ mom in Ventura who is turning 100 years old!).  It all starts back up again in February, so stay tuned for more wild and merciful opportunities to connect with your people.

Please SAVE THE DATE for a very special Wild Mercy gathering at the Hui Ho’Olana on the remote Hawaiian island of Molokai, December 5-12, 2020.  It’s almost a year and a half away, so you have time to save up and get excited.  The Hui only accepts groups they personally invite, so we are deeply honored to have been recommended by Rev. angel Kyodo williams to this off-the-grid magical place.  http://huiho.org/wp/

Meanwhile, this new book continues to roll along and gather us all up.  Every day I hear from women (and some men) who express gratitude that Wild Mercy is articulating exactly what has been ripening in their own hearts.  This is our book, friends, our movement, our circle.  It’s our time.  Welcome home.

With love always,

Mirabai

If Wild Mercy is resonating for you, would you be so kind as to post a review on Amazon?  That helps drive sales and get this little book into many more hands.
