DACA is here to stay! But the fight continues! We fought to uphold DACA when it was rescinded by Attorney General Jeff Sessions in the fall of 2017, setting off a lengthy cycle of appeals and federal court rulings that led to the Supreme Court taking up the case in November 2019.
Today June 18th, the Supreme Court decided that Donald Trump’s administration’s reason to end the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program was not sufficient. Marking a great victory for the DACAmented community, upholding protections from deportation for an estimated 649,000 recipients. The work has just begun. The fight continues, and we will keep fighting for our human rights.
As a result of this decision, many questions arose within the community. Such as would advanced parole be reinstated? Would USCIS begin accepting new applications? The answers are still unclear, and we are gearing up to bring accurate information to the community. For the time being, we recommend community members gathering the necessary documentation and reaching out to GLAHR at 770-457-5232 for more information.
