POLICIES AND PROGRAMS

Analysis identifies current deficits in global institutional arrangements for agricultural development and food and nutrition security and proposes a framework for how to redesign global food governance.
RESEARCH AND INNOVATION

WFP report “At the root of exodus: Food security, conflict and international migration” finds that food insecurity accelerates cross-border migration and – when coupled with poverty – food insecurity increases the likelihood and intensity of armed conflicts.

FAO publication provides options for interventions to enhance nutrition-sensitive agriculture and food systems, organized according to four key functions of the food system – production, handling/storage, trade, and consumer demand – as well as cross-cutting issues.

Study finds access to credit improves food security and enables households to achieve greater dietary diversity in Bangladesh.

Special issue of Food Policy debunks myths about agriculture in Africa.
NEWS AND EVENTS

The Society for Implementation Science in Nutrition (SISN) launched a new website. A webcast from the SISN president explores “An Integrative Framework for Implementation Science in Nutrition.”

The Committee on World Food Security will host two intersessional events on nutrition in May: “Investments for Healthy Food Systems” on May 9, and “Impact Assessment of Policies to Support Healthy Food Environments and Healthy Diets” on May 26.

How can multisectoral nutrition programs be brought to scale with quality? Lessons from the USAID-funded Suaahara program in Nepal will be presented in a webinar on May 16.

Young leaders will come together to discuss how to feed a hungry planet in the third Youth Ag-Summit, hosted by Bayer, Groene Kring, and Jeunes Agriculteurs in Brussels, Belgium from October 9–13.
