Hello!
Welcome back to the Splash Damage newsletter and, as is fast becoming tradition, we’ve got quite a bit to get through. So, shall we get started?
Thursday 19th May was Global Accessibility Awareness Day: a permanent fixture in our yearly calendar of events. In fact, you can check out what we did in 2021 here.
This year, our friend Joe Kulik returned (he features in the blog linked just above!) to share more learnings from his research. This year, he focused on how some game studios can struggle with doing accessibility ‘right’, despite having all the best intentions.
We also had a talk from Joanna Blackhart; an Accessibility & Sensitivity Consultant for games, books, music, and movies, about the different types of neurodiversity and how best to support our neurodiverse colleagues.
Finally, our own Robert Macdonald, Head Of UI & Accessibility, took us through a history of accessibility at Splash Damage and how we're building on those foundations to ensure our future projects are as accessible as possible.
Speaking of future projects, did you know that we're hiring to help us build the future?
