I was converted to Jesus Christ at the age of 16 and one of my quests was to be led by God to experience all that He had planned for me. While reading the Bible, I had noticed that all the biblical characters had the experience of hearing God speak to them, which enabled them to follow Him.
For my part, I felt like I was doing a monologue. I was talking a lot, but I wasn't listening. Does that sound familiar?
I used to hear pastors say that you had to pray for hours to hear God.
Others never mentioned that God spoke to them. For others still, God's supernaturalism seemed to be the norm of their daily lives. I began to delve deeper into the subject by following those who were experiencing things with God.
For my part, I felt like I was doing a monologue. I was talking a lot, but I wasn't listening. Does that sound familiar?
I used to hear pastors say that you had to pray for hours to hear God.

I have a background as a physics and chemistry teacher. I am rather analytical and rational.
On the one hand, I had an intense thirst for intimacy with God, but on the other, I was more than cautious. I was afraid of getting lost in mystical experiences!
So I tried to listen to God by asking Him a question and waiting in silence. It was a storm in my head, I was super stressed!
Discouraged, I gave up my quest for the voice of God.
If you are at this stage, I understand you perfectly.
On the one hand, I had an intense thirst for intimacy with God, but on the other, I was more than cautious. I was afraid of getting lost in mystical experiences!
So I tried to listen to God by asking Him a question and waiting in silence. It was a storm in my head, I was super stressed!
Discouraged, I gave up my quest for the voice of God.

My wife had a more trusting attitude towards God and she began to hear God before I did!
I became jealous of what she was experiencing! This stimulated me to overcome discouragement and frustration. And with humility, I began to learn.
So I studied what the Bible said about how God communicates.
The good news is that I found in the Bible that God gives us all the guidance we need to be safe to listen to Him.

So a little later I tried again to listen to God and it was his love that I met, not a general who gives orders, but a loving father who was only waiting for this moment to reveal himself more to me.
In the course of this journey, I discovered the answers to the questions that prevented me from abandoning myself in the presence of God.
I have been sharing these answers around me since 2012 and each time, those who receive them connect with God like never before.

One of the things I discovered is that many of the ideas about the voice of God are myths.
Myth #1 - The word of God is rare: FALSE!
In fact God speaks and we could say with all due respect that He is "talkative"!
Myth #2 - God only speaks to great men or women of God: WRONG!
God has put his Spirit in us to lead us! Each of his children can hear him.

Everyone is different, and starts from a different point. Have you been a Christian for a long time? Are you baptized in the Holy Spirit? Do you read the Bible regularly to get a sense of what it teaches? Do you have a positive image of God or are you afraid of him?
These different parameters can make or break the journey, but I know one thing: having experienced it, God will walk with you along the way.
Just as He brought you from darkness to His light, He knows exactly how to guide you to His heart.
Some people hear God right away, others need reassurance or a better understanding of the biblical promises before they surrender.
