Welcome to the August 2017 edition of Sajid Javid MP's newsletter
WELCOME

As schools break for the summer, I would like to wish all students a fantastic holiday. In particular, good luck to all those expecting exam results.

With Parliament also in recess, this time of year provides more of an opportunity to spend time in our community and enjoy events like the fantastic Bromsgrove Festival. As ever, it was a wonderful event that brightened up our town with so much to see, hear and enjoy for all the family.

It is good news that the unemployment rate in Bromsgrove constituency remains low at 1%. There is more to do but this is encouraging.

Youth unemployment in Bromsgrove constituency is also down 67% since 2010. The rate is now just 2%, which is near the record low. This means opportunity and security for young people.

Finally, I welcome the announcement that there will be an additional £1.3 billion for schools funding over two years. This means that, with teachers and schools across Bromsgrove District, we can continue to raise standards and give every child the best possible education, and opportunities for the future.

Kind regards,

Sajid Javid
Member of Parliament for Bromsgrove
RECENT ACTIVITY
I'm delighted that Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust has been awarded £29 million. This is excellent news. This month, I also had a productive discussion with Simon Trickett, CEO of our local NHS commissioning group. As your representative in Parliament, health needs of local residents are my top priority.
I visited Fairfield First School to give my best wishes to the hugely popular teacher Linda Jones. She is an inspiration and is retiring after 38 years - thank you.
I dropped by South Bromsgrove High School to thank departing headteacher, Paul Topping, for all his hard work over last seven years. Bromsgrove will miss your leadership!
Good to meet with farmers in the constituency and discuss issues and opportunities both locally and nationally. Thank you for all that you do.
It was a privilege to visit Barnt Green school and officially open their new learning bus! Thank you to all those who helped with the project.
I enjoyed popping in to the newly opened The Deli at Belbroughton to chat with the owners and meet their new baby. Good luck!
It was an honour to open Elmscroft Podiatry Practice in Bromsgrove. Another great local business.
I joined the Big Issue Reception in Parliament to praise the work of all those involved with the Big Issue. It is a great initiative that has been improving lives and giving homeless people a voice for over twenty-five years.
