What a month. We've been attending events, giving talks, doing interviews, dressing up, eating sauerkraut, filming faces all while making games!
Let's dive in and check out the highlights from
the past month! |
This past week was the first Wellbeing Week at Splash. That means it's been healthy snacks, exercise classes, mental health workshops and smoothie bikes! Check out our write up to learn more about what we did, and to check out some of the amazing photos from the week.

| We love a good celebration at Splash, and this month we've managed to celebrate Oktoberfest, Fancy Friday, three of our games getting a year older and holding sweepstakes for both the Rugby World Cup and RuPaul's Drag Race! |
Gears 4 turned 3 on the 11th October, Batman: Arkham Origins had its 6th anniversary on the 25th and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars turned TWELVE (!). We're so proud of all of the work we've done on those titles, but we're also getting slightly worried that our first game, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, will soon be older than our youngest members of staff...
Click the links to share your memories of those titles with us on social media, and check out our ArtStation for a little more nostalgia! |

When we debuted Ask Splash earlier this year the reaction was amazing. We had people tweeting us the questions they wanted answered, students thanking us for covering the basics, and schools showing the videos to the younger generations to highlight all the types of people that go into making games.
Well, we're incredibly happy to announce that we're kicking off the second season of Ask Splash. This time around it's new faces, new disciplines and new questions! From specific advice surrounding certain roles to what our parents think we do,
we've got you covered. |
This month has been a busy one for Splashers of all disciplines. Fran headed to EGX to spread her UI/UX knowledge on the Fringe Theatre, and if we can convince her to share her knowledge on camera we'll make sure if goes up on Youtube.
We also sponsored and attended GAconf - the Gaming Accessibility Conference. The conference, brilliantly headed up by Tara from Mixer and accessibility advocate Ian Hamilton, delved into what accessibility actually means for the
games industry and how we can all work together
to make games for everyone. |
Last month we told you that fan favourite Ed Stern, Lead Writer & Jackal Commander, was giving a talk at the University of Westminster, discussing some of the challenges that students will face moving into professional game development.
It wasn't recorded, but Ed was kind enough to write up that talk (dated memes and all) and put them on his Medium page. Be sure to head over and give it a read and while you're there, check out some of his other musings – he really is very good. |
The videogame industry is a small one, and the UK one even smaller. That said, our relationship with Mediatonic is special. Friends, ex-colleagues, fellow Gears developers, housemates and even a husband(!) are in their walls.
Earlier this month those fine Tonics announced
a brand-new title, Murder by Numbers, which
is going to be clever, funny, wholesome and
have a brilliant soundtrack. |
