Hello!
On July 1st, 2023, the community-based early childhood education center El Hogar Del Niño became part of Brightpoint. This partnership will increase early childhood care and education, parent support, mental health and wellness and youth services to Latine families. Together, Brightpoint and El Hogar Del Niño will elevate the quality of early childhood education in communities throughout the state and achieve a more profound impact.
On a gorgeous Monday morning in October, I joined the children at El Hogar Del Niño’s (EHDN) early childhood education center in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood for a fun and festive pumpkin decorating contest to celebrate Halloween.
Children and teachers in each classroom got together to create a fun design. The result was beautiful!
From silly faces to witches to a variety of characters like a Minion, each classroom came up with something unique. My favorite was the pumpkin painted like Mickey Mouse, which I loved as a child!
This is one of many examples of how the staff at El Hogar work hard every day to build a warm and inviting community among its families. El Hogar lights the path for children and their families to reach their fullest potential in nurturing, culturally sensitive learning environments. Located in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, many families speak Spanish. Since our staff reflect the broader community and are bilingual, they can communicate with families in their preferred language.
El Hogar has an early childhood care and education center and home visiting services for children up to age 5, and also supports older children in Kindergarten through 8th grade with after school programming. These amazing programs keep our children safe, cared for, and happy while their parents and caregivers either work or go to school.
What I love about El Hogar is that it’s so much more than affordable child care in the Pilsen community – the program also works with families every week to help them achieve their personal goals. Families set their own goals based on their unique situations, and passionate El Hogar staff are there to help them every step of the way.
Whether it’s a young mom who didn’t graduate from high school and is working to earn her GED, or an exhausted parent who needs to carve out time in their already busy day for potty training, El Hoar’s staff are there to offer support. Through weekly meetings, staff hold families accountable for taking steps toward achieving their goals.
I am so proud to be a part of Brightpoint’s team. We couldn’t do this amazing work strengthening families in our community without generous support from donors like you.
Together we will continue focusing on improving each family’s health and well-being and building a warm community where children can thrive.
Thank you again for being part of the Brightpoint team!
All the best,
