We've decided to go into arms dealing
Dear Reader,
As you might be aware, The Chaser is now one of Australia's fastest growing media corporations. In the past 12 months, we've set up a sister site called The Shot, we've launched a daily podcast called The Chaser Report, and hired a team of writer/performers who the authorities don't recognise, and whose photos are not at the top of every security guard's blacklist.
This is great.
For example, it means that when a household appliances chain refused to increase their worker's pay by 69 cents an hour this week, we're able to send a Surprise Spruiker down to the local Harvey Norman that afternoon to help advertise their behaviour (watch video on Facebook or Twitter).
And on Tuesday, when we found out there was an arms expo called Land Forces in Brisbane, we were able to send one of our team, Aleksa Vulovic, to Brisbane to try sell our own line of arms. That's right, in addition to satirical news and podcasts, The Chaser is pleased to announce it is going into arms dealing. (Apparently it's quite profitable.)
As it turns out, Aleksa managed to make it onto conference floor to flog his wares. That video will be coming out next week. In the meantime, here's a teaser video of Aleksa's first attempt to get into the conference (watch on Facebook or Twitter).
You can listen to the full story about how Aleksa managed to get through the heavy security at the Expo on today's episode of The Chaser Report podcast (simply search for 'Chaser Report' in your podcast app and subscribe to it, or click listen online here).
It's a great story -- definitely worth checking out.
Of course, none of this stuff would be possible without the thousands of supporters who donate $5 or $10 each month to make it happen. So if you're one of our supporters, I'd like to thank you. Rest assured, every dollar you give goes into producing more content and funding fresh new talent to create a new generation of writer/performers who will eventually get blacklisted by the authorities.
If you're not a Chaser supporter already, please consider becoming one now. I don't usually do a hard sell on donations, but if you're into the stuff we're doing at the moment, and want to support the website, and the daily podcast and the videos we're producing, becoming a Chaser supporter is the best way to keep it coming.
Putting out a podcast that's ready at 5am each day is a huge undertaking but it's off to a flying start, and our hope is that it will be come part of people's morning routine. If you haven't already, go to your podcast app right now and search for 'Chaser Report', then subscribe to it.
