IFPRI and FAO join hands to convene global leaders in Bangkok, November 28-30, to accelerate progress toward ending hunger and malnutrition by learning from success stories, exploring new ideas and innovations, using the power of cross-sector collaboration and strengthening the knowledge base.
Estimating costs and impacts of nutrition-sensitive programs
A study in Health Policy and Planning estimates the potential costs and impacts on children’s diets of 12 nutrition-sensitive programs in Ethiopia, Nigeria, and India. Total cost per child reached ranged widely: from 0.58 to 2,650 USD/year, with the largest dietary improvements from complementary food programs and animal and horticulture programs.
 
Integrating gender and nutrition in agricultural extension
INGENAES report captures thirteen stories of success in integrating gender and nutrition in agricultural and extension services.
 
Identifying drivers of anaemia reduction
A Public Health Nutrition study in India finds that multi-sectoral public health policies and programmes that target basic, underlying, and immediate factors are likely to have greatest impact on anemia reduction among pregnant women.
 
Understanding the role of government policy in nutrition
BMJ analysis reviews strategies governments can use to improve nutrition and health, and recommends actions for healthier food systems, including implementing fiscal incentives and disincentives for consumers and the food industry.
 
Feeding the world sustainably
A diverse group of global experts provides insights in a new book from the Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition towards sustainable, equitable, and healthy food systems for all people and cultures.
 
Linking agriculture, nutrition, and health to achieve SDGs
The CGIAR Research Program on Agriculture for Nutrition and Health (A4NH) 2017 Annual Report reports on the program’s work contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 2 and 3: Zero Hunger and Good Health and Well-Being.
Lawrence Haddad and David Nabarro win 2018 World Food Prize
Congratulations to Dr. Lawrence Haddad and Dr. David Nabarro, who have won the 2018 World Food Prize for their global leadership in elevating maternal and child undernutrition to a central issue within the food security and development dialogue at national and international levels.
 
Action Call on better data for adolescent nutrition
Over 30 organizations have pledged commitment to a Call to Action on adolescent nutrition. It outlines seven priority actions for better data to drive better policies and programs, and is discussed further in a blog post.
 
Multi-stakeholder collaboration to end malnutrition in Malawi
King Letsie III, Special Ambassador for Nutrition for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, recognized Malawi’s efforts to support multi-stakeholder collaboration to end malnutrition and called for continued partnerships to accelerate progress.
