Healthy diets from sustainable food systems
Food is the single strongest lever to optimize human health and environmental sustainability on Earth, but it currently is threatening both people and planet concludes a review by the EAT-Lancet Commission on Food, Planet, Health. The study—authored by 30 world-leading scientists from across the globe—outlines how to sustainably feed a future population of 10 billion people a healthy diet. IFPRI Director General Shenggen Fan served as a Commissioner for the report and provides his key takeaways in a video message.

Investments to achieve Zero Hunger in Africa
A World Development study finds that climate change could put an additional 16 million people at risk of hunger in Africa by 2030—compared to a scenario without climate change. However, investment in agriculture could more than compensate for the negative effects of climate change, and enhanced agricultural R&D could reduce the prevalence of hunger by 55 million people in Africa.

The study shows that this shift aligned with Coca Cola’s message that it is activity, not diet, that matters—a claim few public health scholars accept.

Smart irrigation strategies for Africa

It identifies a set of policies and practices that could significantly improve the resilience and livelihoods of rural communities and spur overall agricultural growth and transformation in Africa.

Gender and pathways to food security in Malawi
