FAO and legislators in the Philippines launch pilot parliamentary alliance for food security and nutrition. This alliance aims to tackle national food security and nutrition issues through legislative actions on agriculture, fisheries, forestry, and environment and natural resources sectors.
A study of behavior change communication in Bangladesh by Cornell and IFPRI researchers presents three main findings: (1) this type of communication improves knowledge on infant and young child nutrition substantially in the first year of intervention, (2) the increase in knowledge between the 1st and 2nd year is smaller, (3) knowledge persists: there are no significant decreases in knowledge 6–10 months after the communication activities ended.
An analysis of farm production diversity and dietary quality in Indonesia, Kenya, and Uganda finds that increasing the number of food groups produced on the farm independent of market incentives may foster subsistence, reduce income, and thus rather worsen dietary quality. This suggests that improving the functioning of agricultural markets and smallholder market access are key strategies to enhance nutrition.
USAID’s Accelerating Behavior Change in Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture online training helps practitioners understand agriculture’s role in improving nutrition and learn how to integrate behavior change methods into nutrition-sensitive agriculture practices.

The 5th Responsible Business Forum on Food & Agriculture will convene over 500 food, agriculture, and nutrition decision makers March 27–28 in Indonesia. They will discuss key challenges that Asia faces—such as poverty and malnutrition—and aim to reach consensus on scaling collaborative actions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in the region.
