The Bangladesh National Nutrition Council, chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, approved the Second National Plan of Action on Nutrition 2016-2025 that was developed in collaboration with key stakeholders. Its goal is to improve the nutritional status of all citizens and reduce all forms of malnutrition, with a focus on children, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
Consuming fortified rice can significantly reduce anemia and zinc deficiencies among the poorest women in Bangladesh according to a study by the research center icddr,b on behalf of the World Food Program.
 
The Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN) presents a Nutrition-Sensitive Intervention Selection Tool that enables users to select interventions based on the farming systems in which they work, improving nutrition outcomes by optimizing agricultural investments.
 
Sustainable Nutrition for All shares insights from social and behavior change communication approaches in Uganda and Zambia. The technical brief assists policymakers, practitioners, and researchers understand the approaches and tools used and guides their investments in this area.
 
Over 70,000 children in Kenya are severely malnourished due to drought-related hunger according to a new survey conducted by county departments of health, UNICEF, and nine aid organizations working on the ground. An additional 40,000 pregnant and nursing women are malnourished with potentially dire consequences for them and their children.
Technology and empowerment have the promise to fulfill the goals of the Green Revolution, reflects Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, Founder and Chairperson of the Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (BRAC) and Compact2025 Leadership Council member.
 
The Africa Green Revolution Forum 2017, “Accelerating Africa’s Path to Prosperity: Growing Inclusive Economies and Jobs through Agriculture,” will take place September 4-8 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
