  Tree Planting Season in Full Swing in Schools & Nature Reserves

Now Autumn is with us, tree planting is in full swing in the UK within our schools and nature reserves.

This season, more than ever, the planting of native broad leaf trees is vital; not only for the climate change mitigation that they bring, but also to reverse some of the worrying effects of the pandemic that results in untended areas getting inundated with invasive species, resulting in loss of habitats for some species.

School children are enthusiastically wielding their spades already over 3000 trees have gone out to schools in 14 different locations up and down the country within the last month. As well as providing a socially distanced outdoor activity, tree planting brings various opportunities supporting STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Maths) subjects within the curriculum.

Over in Kenya, our team resumed socially distanced planting back in the summer. Our team leader Mburu gives his 2020 Report on the programme and challenges faced this year. He reports on progress made and in our fascinating video we see how traditional Kenyan bee hives have been installed and honey produced is now generating a welcome revenue stream for the developing communities. Since the project began, the team has planted 200,000 trees of various native species that are starting to form a nice canopy in the young forest.

Streamlined Energy & Carbon Reporting - Made Easy

The new Streamlined Energy & Carbon Reporting (SECR) legislation is now underway, most companies are just completing or about to complete their first data period.

Recall, the data period begins at the start of your financial year starting on or after 1 April 2019. e.g.

For a large entity with a financial year starting 1 October, your first dataset is for 1 October 2019 - 30 September 2020 . You will need to be assessing your Carbon Footprint now for submission within your Annual Report & Accounts
For a large entity with a financial year starting 1 January, your first dataset relates to 1 January 2020 - 31 December 2020. You will need to assess your Carbon Footprint when the data period has ended and submit with within your Annual Report & accounts in the New Year.
