Many of our clients have ESOS Phase 2 projects underway! The Environment Agency (EA) recommends getting started now (ahead of the 5th December 2019 deadline) to get energy audit recommendations implemented to maximise potential cost savings within your business and to avoid a rush at the end for ESOS Lead Assessor sign off.
Over the summer, the EA announced that ESOS will remain unchanged by the upcoming Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) that will come into force in April 2019 following the end of the 2018/19 Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) year.
Remember, if your business is now classed as a large entity (check the qualification criteria) you will need to comply with ESOS Phase 2 even if you were not ‘in’ Phase 1. Additionally, if your business has a large entity subsidiary in the Republic of Ireland, then you will need to comply to Energy Auditing Scheme (EAS) Phase 2 (ESOS’s Irish equivalent for which we have fully certified assessors). Contact us if you are unsure if you need to comply or if you want assistance in complying.
Take a look at our ESOS webpage for more information and the ESOS crib sheet.

The deadline for transitioning to the 2015 standards for ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 is this month! Beyond this, for all of those who have not transitioned, your certification will be invalid!
Additionally, the new ISO 50001:2018 standard has been released. The new update brings the ISO 50001 in line with the Annex SL format of 14001, 9001 and 45001 - making this an ideal time to put together an integrated management system (IMS).
Businesses will have three years to transition but since ISO 50001:2018 can also be used as a direct route for compliance with ESOS without having to complete an audit you may want to consider transitioning now and combining your efforts on these fronts.
Contact us for more on ISO 50001 and ESOS compliance.

School Tree Planting Season Begins
It is back to school for the kids and back to planting for us!
We already have tree planting in schools lined up across the UK, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland! Planting trees in schools helps to sequester carbon and provide habitats whilst also encouraging environmental education and getting the children engaged in nature/biodiversity.
Check out our recent news update for our list of areas that need trees or take a look at our UK tree planting project page.
As tree sponsors, you can support by funding the trees or even get more hands on and get involved in the planting. Each tree planted is also buddied with a tonne of carbon saved through preventing deforestation in the Amazon, helping to mitigate climate change.
