FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Carlin Romano Remains On Board After Special Meeting Vote

August 25, 2020 - After last night’s nearly two-hour Zoom meeting hosted by Walton Muyumba and attended by over 130 regular voting members, the two-thirds majority (66.6%) required for removal of a director was not attained. Thus Carlin Romano remains on the board until the completion of his term in 2022. The breakdown of the voting is shown below.

The Special Meeting for removal was called according to the NBCC’s bylaws by request of over 70 members. Nearly double that attended, and many members spoke passionately on both sides, raising a wide variety of issues. Romano was given the opportunity to answer every speaker. Proxy voting was a major factor in the outcome.

The NBCC Board thanks all the regular members for their involvement in the past weeks and months. The two membership meetings held this past week, both with record attendance, indicate that a new era of member involvement is here. The Board is eager to return to its core mission in a new spirit of tolerance, civility and member participation.
