This year, Brightpoint retained the Solid Foundation for Inclusion tier. Brightpoint is proud to be one of 17 Illinois organizations, and one of 172 child welfare agencies nationally implementing LGBTQIA+ inclusive and affirming practice and policy. Read more.

Mike Shaver Honored at the Annual TITAN100 Awards Ceremony:
On February 8th, Mike Shaver was honored at the annual TITAN100 awards ceremony at the Navy Pier Aon Grand Ballroom. The evening was an incredible gathering of leaders and allies driving the future of the Chicago business community. The TITAN100 program recognizes the top 100 CEOs & C-level executives. Addressing Early Education Barriers for Families:

Chapin Hall and Brightpoint collaborate to remove barriers for children exposed to abuse and neglect, ensuring access to quality early childhood care and education. Learn more about our project here.

McLean County Fatherhood Coalition’s 5th Anniversary Luncheon:
Brightpoint’s McLean County Fatherhood Coalition held its 5th Anniversary Luncheon on January 30th at the Bloomington-Normal YMCA. Bloomington Mayor Mboka Mwilambwe and Council Member Scott Preston from Normal, IL spoke to the packed room about being fathers and addressing common parenting issues. Watch the video.

State Senator Hosts Community Baby Shower:

On January 28th, Brightpoint Home Visiting staff attended the Community Baby Shower hosted by State Senator Natalie Toro (D- 20). Staff shared resources for new parents and families and provided information about the various parent support programs for new parents and families.

McLean County Chamber’s 14th Annual Business Awards Gala:

Brightpoint was honored to be nominated for the Nonprofit Agency Excellence Award at the McLean County Chamber of Commerce’s 14th Annual Business Excellence Awards Gala on February 17th, in Bloomington! Congrats to new Brightpoint Central Region Advisory Board Chair Tracy Patkunas and community partner Bloomington-Normal YMCA on their wins.

Grant and Donation Highlights:

Thanks to our generous supporters, Brightpoint met a year-end matching challenge and raised $75,000! Brightpoint has also received the Safe Sleep grant from IDPH, extending our Safe Babies program's reach to 17 counties across Illinois. The Telligen Community Initiative awarded a grant of $75,000 to support the Northern Doula program. Additionally, the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois awarded $75,000 to support the construction of a second bathroom at the Rockford Crisis Nursery, allowing the Nursery to serve twice as many children at a given time.
