Help Us Shape the Future of Bicycling in Sonoma County

We're making biking safer and easier for all ages through:

ADVOCACY: Building a network of bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure to connect Sonoma County’s communities and open spaces. Advancing bike-friendly communities, policies and funding, and giving bicyclists a voice at the table.

SAFETY: Making our communities safer for bicyclists and pedestrians of all ages through infrastructure improvements, education and public policy efforts.

EDUCATION: Working directly with our youth, adults, and families to teach the rules of the road and how to bike safely and lawfully.

ENCOURAGEMENT:
Providing skills, information and tools to adults and children that create safety and enthusiasm about biking for transportation and recreation.
Let’s continue as local leaders in reducing our nation’s carbon footprint, building healthy and equitable communities, and investing in the future we want for ourselves and our children.

Just some of our accomplishments in 2017:
  • Defeating approval of dangerous driveway on blind curve as part of new Westside Road winery tasting room project.
  • Successfully advocating for inclusion of Willowside Road in 2018-19 County Repaving Program, to be repaved between Hall and Piner.
  • Ensuring cycling remains an allowable activity on Fitch Mountain.
  • Producing and circulating “Cyclists Are Your Friends & Neighbors: Give 3 Feet” public service announcement video, including 168,000 views in local Sonoma County theaters.
  • Ensuring thorough investigation and pursuit of criminal charges involving death of local cyclist, Amy Suyama.
  • Supporting efforts to advance construction of Community Connector bike/pedestrian bridge spanning Highway 101 in Santa Rosa, including advancing regional and state project funding.
  • Advancing SMART Pathway and facilitating better bicycle access on SMART trains and at stations, including creating and hosting a bicyclists on SMART feedback form to determine and advance needed bike improvements; creating a "Bikes on SMART" video tutorial; supporting a recently rewarded grant to bring bike share to SMART; serving on a SMART Pathway Ad-hoc Committee working to advance pathway funding and construction; and successfully advocating for secure bike e-lockers and U-racks at stations.
  • Engaging over 10,000 students in biking and walking activities and education through our Safe Routes to School Program.
  • Engaging over 1,200 cycling commuters on National Bike to Work Day.
  • Securely valet parking over 1,500 bicycles during community events.
