FREE Family Bike Workshop This Weekend!


The City of Sonoma is hosting a FREE Family Bicycling Workshop on Saturday July 14th from 10am-12:30pm! Families must pre-register online by FRIDAY AFTERNOON to be guaranteed a space. Instructors from the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition will teach families how to ride together safely and confidently with both skill/safety drills and an instructional ride in town. Free helmets available, by request, to registered participants (donated by Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley). Bike Swap Meet Saturday July 21

Do you have unused bikes, parts, or gear that you'd like to sell or swap? Are you looking for deals on used gear? Here's your opportunity! We're hosting a bike swap meet Saturday July 21 at the Santa Rosa Original Certified Farmer's Market in the parking lot of the Luther Burbank Center. It’s free to browse and shop – and there will be bargains! Details here.

Open House July 25

The City of Santa Rosa is updating its Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan and they want to hear from you! The Plan Update 2018 is a critical tool in building a citywide transportation system that is bicycle and pedestrian friendly. The City will be hosting an open house on Wednesday July 25, from 6-8 pm at the Rincon Valley Library. [Read more]

Help Advance the Great Redwood Trail by Calling the Governor’s Office
(It's Working!)


 
Your calls to the Governor’s office in support of Senator Mike McGuire’s Great Redwood Trail Act (SB 1029) have really made a difference! The effort resulted in the Governor’s staff coming to the table to discuss possible sources of funding to make the Trail happen. That was a huge step!  SB 1029 is now pending in its last committee, the Assembly Appropriations Committee. [Read more]

Second Annual Bikes Blues and Brews Fundraiser August 4th

Rock out to local dance band The Zins, enjoy tasty beers from Henhouse Brewing, and support SCBC at the same time! The event also includes a raffle and silent auction. Prizes include a Yuba cargo bike, outdoor adventures (kayaking, standup paddling, hot springs), bike rides, and more!

The County has created an app, SoCo Report It, for reporting hazards like potholes, street light outages,  trees in the roadway, and litter. You can download the app onto your phone or just use their website. This is only for  the unincorporated areas of the county. More information here.
A collaboration of health & cycling groups are creating a new DMV Specialty License Plate that promotes bicycling in California. Vote for your favorite here.
