Advocacy Updates

  • Cities around the world are closing streets to through traffic to create more space for people to exercise while maintaining social distance during Shelter in Place orders. Where might we try it here in Sonoma County? How about  Sonoma Avenue in Santa Rosa?
  • On April 28, our Public Health Officer amended a previous order closing all parks in the county and banning bikes from Class I paths. The new order re-opens the bike paths and allows people to visit parks for exercise only if they can walk or cycle there; parking lots, bathrooms, picnic areas are still closed. All coastal beaches and parks remain closed.
  • On May 1, the Shelter in Place order was extended and loosened. Bike shops are considered essential businesses for both repairs and sales. (We have spoken with many of them - they are open and doing brisk business!)
