Virtual Bike Chat WEDNESDAY at Noon!

We can't ride together or offer face-to-face classes these days....but that doesn't mean we can't continue our work to educate and inspire cyclists! Join us online for a series of weekly conversations on a variety of cycling topics. Each session will include a few experts along with plenty of time for Q&A.

Tomorrow's topic: Electric bikes. Have you tried one yet? Wondering how to choose one, where you can (and can't) ride one, how far you can go before running out of juice? Get your questions answered by Geoffrey Smith of BikePartners Bicycle Shop, Colin Henley of Pedego Electric Bikes, and other e-bike aficionados! There will be plenty of time for questions. Also, the event will be recorded to watch at a later time if you're unable to participate.

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, we will not be able to hold Bike to Work Day in its usual form. However, May is still National Bike Month! Throughout the month, we're offering virtual activities to support safe and healthy cycling for all.

For those who might feel a little rusty or unsure,  we are offering our popular Smart Cycling safety classes online for FREE! Other online classes will include route planning and electric bikes.  For parents and teachers, our Safe Routes to School staff have created the family-friendly Green Sneaker Challenge.

Do you enjoy a little friendly competition? Does setting a clear goal spur you to action? Then you might enjoy our online group on Love to Ride; a handy smartphone app automatically tracks  rides and miles, allowing participants to view their progress against friends and neighbors.

Or simply sign the online Pledge to Ride – you’ll receive helpful tips by email weekly AND be entered in a drawing to win cool prizes!

Major funding and support for Bike Month activities comes from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, Measure M, City of Sebastopol, Marin Bikes, Santa Rosa Cycling Club, Sonoma Clean Power, Yuba Bicycles, Community First Credit Union, and Redwood Credit Union.

Click here for more info on upcoming activities that promote cycling while maintaining social distancing!

The Sonoma County Public Health Officer has issued an order requiring we all wear face coverings indoors or when unable to maintain social distancing.

Cover your face stylishly AND support SCBC with these stretchy, wicking tubular bandannas! They can be worn in a variety of ways: face mask, neck gaiter, hat, headband, etc.
