March 2018 Newsletter

The city of Santa Rosa is updating their Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan this year and they want to hear from you! Your input will help to prioritize plans and establish guidelines for additional bikepaths, walkways, trails and pedestrian enhancements throughout the city. Residents are invited to attend Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board meetings or take their online survey.

For more info on the process, feedback opportunities and community meetings visit https://srcity.org/2711/Bicycle-and-Pedestrian-Master-Plan.

100 Sonoma County People Who Care

SCBC was one of four non-profits nominated to participate in this year’s 100 Sonoma People Who Care event!

Nominees were chosen from five categories: Senior Services; Arts & Sciences; Animal Welfare; Environmental Stewardship; and Family & Children. The other organizations are Alchemia, Petaluma Bounty, and Rebuilding Together Petaluma.

Attendees paid $100 for admission to the event. Each of the nominees gave a presentation about their work; at the end, a vote was taken and one lucky winner received ALL of the funds raised.

Held February 27 at the Cavanagh Recreation Center in Petaluma, the event included appetizers, wine and a chance to mingle with attendees and the other nonprofits.

While SCBC didn't win, we got a $500 consolation prize and the opportunity to share our message with a roomful of new people. You can watch a video of our presentation here.

Family Bike Workshops

Families are invited to learn how to ride together in a safe and fun way at our FREE Family Bicycling Workshops.

Fun games and a neighborhood ride! Kids receive a free blinky light! Join the Bicycle Coalition’s certified cycling instructors for a fun workshop for parents and kids. Children must be able to ride a bike and ready to take to the road with their parents. Parents are allowed to trail their children in trailers or child seats too.
