- Ensure local funding for bike paths and pothole repairs: SCBC supports GoSonoma, extending Measure M and quadrupling local funding for bike & pedestrian improvement. A coalition of business groups is opposing it. The SCTA Board meets MONDAY at 2:30 pm - there is a possibility they might choose to pull it from the ballot. If you think the voters should have a say on this in November, email the board by NOON on MONDAY! [Read more...]
- Create a new vision: Santa Rosa is seeking community input on pedestrian and bicycle enhancement opportunities along the 4th Street and College Avenue corridors. They're holding a Virtual Community Workshop on Wednesday, August 12, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Improve connectivity in Downtown Santa Rosa: This is your opportunity to comment on the draft Santa Rosa Downtown Station Area Specific Plan. It will be discussed at the Planning Commission on August 13 and the Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee on August 20. Deadline for comments is AUGUST 31. (The plan is long...the section relevant to cycling is pages 3.7-3.14, in the Mobility chapter.)
- Help our neighbors up north maintain their town character: The Gualala Town Plan calls for their main street, Highway 1, to include separated bike paths, attractive landscaping, and three lanes with no parking. Caltrans is proposing four travel lanes, adding parking, dropping the landscaping, and possibly the bike paths. Local bike advocates are collecting signatures on a petition to keep their downtown safe for cyclists and pedestrians.

Volunteer Needs
Our Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program is in need of fluent, native-Spanish-speaking volunteers to assist with English/Spanish translations this August & September. In normal times, we obtain translation services for free, via the Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s (MTC) Regional SRTS program. However, MTC translators are currently backlogged, and unable to manage the volume of translations in a timely manner. We hope to avoid programmatic delays with the kind help of a few willing Spanish speaking member volunteers!
If you are able to assist with any translation requests during the months of August or September, please contact Tina Panza.
