Our friends Dave and Nathan from Product Edmonton co-hosted a Product Edmonton social that turned into a 50+ person party to say goodbye to Mercer Tavern, one of the original after-hours meetings points for YEG entrepreneurs.
And this party reminded us why!

The people-ops meet-up kicked us off early at 5 pm while our Product Edmonton Co-hosts kept us out late.

One guest drove in all the way from Lloyd.

Someone was handing out free laser tag tickets.

A crazy guy with sideburns was handing out free drink tickets.

And we had ourselves an evening to remember!

Devin, carrying a small dog in tow, received a startup community swag bag packed full of a decade of memories.

The co-founder of Startup Edmonton, Ken, came out from his innovation hibernation to tell us old stories of hosting startup drinks and demo camps back when you were still playing snake on your Nokia phone. He also revisited the YEG community classic: How Nathan met Allison.

Ken launched a small fund called Flight Path back in the early days of Startup Edmonton that raised $300k for local tech companies, including a small Ed-tech startup called Varafy, recently acquired by Chegg.

Varafy founder Werner, now a TNT investor giving back to the community, was eating dinner with long-time YEG innovation community evangelist Perry, founder of ABCtech.

Shelvie, who used to join Startup TNT back when it was just a couple of people having beers with Rob on the patio @ Polar Park, shared how her team has gone from an idea on paper to a VC-backed startup in the intervening 24 months – congrats Fly and Fetch!

A guy was looking to buy a business, another one reconnecting with YEG after years in NYC, and the 8th hire at Jobber was introducing a chemical engineer to the startup scene for the first time.

Meanwhile, in YYC, Startup TNT sponsored the first round of drinks for a lively crowd of 18 community members, including a brand new investor that turned up after hearing about us on the radio.
