BLOG: STRIVING TO ADAPT TO CLIMATE CHANGE IN ALBANIA

NETWORK SECRETARIAT IN ACTION
- The Government of Nepal held a workshop to validate a discussion paper exploring the opportunities for policy alignment to advance climate-resilient development in Nepal.
- Stakeholders from different levels of the Albanian government met to learn more about a project to mobilize funds toward the implementation of adaptation policies in six of the country’s most vulnerable cities to climate change.
- The Nigerian Ministry of Environment, through its Department of Climate Change, will host a one-day workshop next month to validate the country’s NAP framework.
- The Gambian government will host a Training of Trainers (ToT) on Gender and Climate Adaptation in Sub-Regional and Community Planning in November as well.
- Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will be hosting a consultation workshop on Private Sector Engagement in NAP Development in Hanoi next week.
- After years of efforts on climate change adaptation led by Peru’s Ministry of Environment, work on the NAP strategic document is underway. It will bring together ongoing and planned initiatives while serving as a base for continued efforts on adaptation, environmental sustainability and social inclusion.
NAPS IN THE NEWS
- Liberia held a weather and climate information training for local media practitioners, extension officers, farmers, fishers and other stakeholders with the support of the United Nations Development Programme and partners and launched a School of Environmental Studies and Climate Change as part of its NAP process.
- In Burkina Faso, the Green Climate Fund (GCF) co-hosted an event alongside the Hauts-Bassins Regional Directorate on financing mechanisms that would support national adaptation planning activities.
- The Government of Uruguay launched a NAP for its agricultural sector.
- Zimbabwe received a USD 100 000 grant from the Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation to finance the National Climate Change Learning Strategy to support ongoing national adaptation planning efforts.
- Jamaica launched its first country program for engagement with the GCF. Among other activities planned with GCF support, Jamaica is seeking to establish the first-ever Caribbean green bond.
- UN Climate Change: Learn and the World Meteorological Organization just launched a course on strengthening NAP-appropriate climate information and coordinated policy action.
