Republican Party of Texas Chairman James Dickey issued the following statement on hurricane Harvey and the current relief efforts:
“As the rain is still besieging the Texas Gulf Coast and rescue efforts are underway, we are grateful for the leadership of Texans trying to get people out of harm’s way and are praying for the first responders, volunteers, and good Samaritans who are risking their own lives to save others. First and foremost, we are all Texans, and Texans are helping Texans––truly exemplifying our motto of being the friendship state.
“We are praying for those affected while also using our connections and resources all over the state to provide practical help. Our Vice Chair, County Chairs, RPT staff, and volunteers are stepping up to unite Texans’ needs with Texans’ offers of help.
“On the Republican Party of Texas Facebook page, we have a post with dozens of different ways you can help, updated regularly. Please share this post with your networks and help us make these vital connections.
“Though this is an incredibly difficult time, Texans will persevere and, as Governor Greg Abbott said this afternoon, “‘Knowing who we are and what we are, I know that we will get through this even stronger than where we were before the storm hit.’”
