Achieving gender equality for a
food-secure future

Achieving gender equality in food systems is a matter of realizing the rights of women and girls. Despite global commitments, an equal world is not yet reality, according to UN Women. Women have a right to the same opportunities and the same benefits from agriculture, natural resources and food production as men. What’s more, realizing women’s rights is simply a necessity to grow enough, and good enough, food in the face of climate change impacts.

That’s why the CGIAR GENDER Platform and the CGIAR research community joins Generation Equality for International Women’s Day this March 8 by putting gender equality at the forefront of global agricultural research for development.
