Martin Heinrich, DPNM Leaders Must Denounce Cyberstalking and Harassment by Democrat Operatives

ALBUQUERQUE – Democrats have become fully unhinged in the desperate attempt to claim power as multiple Democrat operatives have been called out for online harassment in recent days. As members of his own party cross the line and break the law to silence their political opponents, Heinrich must decide whether he will denounce their illegal behavior or silently approve of it.

“Passions run high in politics, but harassment, stalking, and breaking the law to silence political opponents is completely unacceptable,” said RPNM Chairman Ryan Cangiolosi. “Senator Heinrich should speak up and denounce members of his party who risk the safety of others just to silence political debate, especially when they do it on his behalf. Democratic Party leaders should do the same. If they stay silent, they are sending a message to New Mexicans that they approve of these illegal and unethical harassment tactics.”

Earlier this week, a top Democratic Party of New Mexico official appeared to cyberstalk a female political operative who wrote an op-ed opposing Sen. Heinrich’s re-election. The DPNM official identified her residence in a Tweet, leading to concern about potential death threats against the operative.

“As anyone adept at opposition or online research who chooses to focus attention on me would be aware, in the 2016 election, I and my family were subjected to threats of death and violence because of my preference with regard to presidential candidates. By pointing to my residence in this public way now, Kasnetz is potentially re-upping that danger by providing identifying details of my residence, and by sleight-of-hand encouraging political opponents to seek out further details of my residence, thus enabling them to target me and my family in person, at home.” (Letter to DPNM Chair Marg Ellison, 10/2/18)

And yesterday, a Democrat on Capitol Hill was arrested for posting personal information about Republican elected officials online in response to ongoing Supreme Court nomination hearings. The operative appears to have posted the home address for numerous Republican Senators in order to threaten and harass them for their political beliefs:

“A Democratic congressional intern was arrested Wednesday and accused of posting the personal information of at least one Republican senator during last week's hearing about sexual assault claims against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, authorities said.”

“U.S. Capitol Police said 27-year-old Jackson Cosko was charged with making public restricted personal information, witness tampering, threats in interstate communication, unauthorized access of a government computer, identity theft, second-degree burglary and unlawful entry. Police added that the investigation was continuing and more charges could be filed…”

“Personal information of Sens. Lindsey Graham, Mike Lee and Orrin Hatch was posted on their respective Wikipedia pages Thursday as the Senate Judiciary Committee questioned Kavanaugh…” (Fox News, 10/3/18)

Will Democrats denounce members of their own party who cross the line? So far, they’ve been silent.
