Lakeland City Commission District D Southeast - Shandale Terrell, who took 39.74% of the votes on April 6.

Senate to vote on 'Anti-Riot' Bill

The Republican bill that would criminalize peaceful protests (HB 1/SB 484) has moved through the senate Appropriations Committee and is scheduled for a vote on Wednesday, April 14. Call for Action: Contact your Senator and urge them to vote against a bill that would criminalize peaceful protests.

Stop the Trans Sports Ban Bill

The House is expected to take up HB 1475 on Tuesday, April 13.
Equality Florida is holding Virtual Days of Action, in which you can take action to stop the Trans Sports Ban Bill from moving any further through the Legislature. Join them virtually, as they call Equality Florida supporters and encourage them to call the Governor, and ask him to denounces HB 1475 and the Senate companion bill SB 2012.

Stop the attack on educators. Vote NO on SB 1014!

SB 1014 is scheduled to go before the rules committee on Wednesday, April 14.
Depending on the county, educators might have more than 100 items they can have deducted from their payroll. From health insurance to United Way donations to gym memberships, educators are given the freedom to choose what to have deducted from their paycheck. Bill 1014 removes that freedom for union membership only. Our legislators should be in the business of ensuring and expanding freedom, not limiting it.

Learn to Lead Democrats

A very informative Florida County Leaders Series training session was held on Saturday, as presented by the National Democratic Training Committee, in partnership with Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried. The focus of the first session in the series was how to be an effective precinct committee person.

The series continues Saturday, April 24th from 10 AM -11 AM EST and will focus on “How to Initiate Values-Based Conversations to Recruit Members”.
