The 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly has begun. 

Over the coming week, there will be a wide range of side-events. It is a great opportunity to promote multilateralism!

As promised in the last campaign update call, the list below will direct you to side-events of particular interest.

In light of the extraordinary Climate Summit the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) and its partners, including Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, have put together a high-level group of experts for a series of presentations and panel discussions.

Civil Society Organization SDG Forum (17:00 - 20:00)

The Civil Society SDG Forum aims to create a space for constructive and propositional dialogue between civil society and UN Member States, international organizations and other related constituencies on the possible responses to the challenges exposed by the first four years of implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. 

The forum will be webcast live.

PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO SECURITY RESTRICTIONS AROUND THE SUMMIT, REGISTRATION FOR THIS MEETING IS REQUIRED. Please also ONLY RSVP if you will in fact be in New York and will be able to attend. As space is limited, anyone that registers that will not actually have the ability to attend, will take spaces from those that are able to attend.

Alliance for Multilateralism: Building the Network and Presenting Results (11:30 - 13:00; CR 3, UNHQ)

Co-Hosted by Germany, France, Canada, Mexico, Chile, and others.

This informal network of countries is united in their conviction that a rules-based multilateral order is the only reliable
guarantee for international stability and peace and that our common challenges can only be solved through cooperation. The event will include the presentation of new concrete thematic initiatives.
 
One Year to Go to the UN 75 Summit: Innovating Global Governance for 21st Century Challenges (13:30 - 15:00)

Co-Sponsors: Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung New York Office, The Stimson Center, One Earth Future Foundation, the Global Challenges Foundation, and the Missions of Nigeria, Qatar, Spain and Uganda to the UN

This UNGA side event will consider novel approaches to improve global governance -- from reducing the threat of climate change and promoting peace and security to improving conditions for Sustainable Development Goals implementation and safeguarding human rights — in the year leading up to the UN@75 Summit.
