Join me September 30 and October 2 in NYC
Greetings, friends! It's been way too long since I've dropped you a line (or maybe not long enough, depending on your point of view). I don't do a great job of keeping in touch with anyone, but I did want to let you know about a couple of exciting events in New York City I'm involved with next week, just in case you're near enough to check them out.
Monday, September 30, 7:30-10:30 pm
Write This Down: A Creative Nonfiction Reading Series
Branded Saloon, 603 Vanderbilt Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11238
At the “Back to School” edition of this new nonfiction series, I’ll be reading “Words and Phrases You Must Never Use in Utah,” a personal essay about my time as a novice cusser at the Clarion Workshop. (This piece is adapted from a chapter that didn't make it into the final draft of my memoir, The Accidental Terrorist.) Also appearing are David Lawson, Rhonda Hansome, and David Rothman. Branded Saloon is in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn.
Wednesday, October 2, 7:00-9:00 pm
Liars’ League NYC presents Accident & Emergency
KGB Bar, 85 E. 4th St., New York, NY 10003
At this long-running series, original short stories are read by professional actors. My new short story “Harper’s Guitar” (a self-contained chapter from my crime novel in progress) will be read by Shakespearean actor Mark Woollett. Also featured are stories by Rachel Lyon, Katherine Shaw, and Arthur Longworth. KGB Bar is in Manhattan's East Village.
I hope to see you at one or both of these excellent events! If you make it out, please say hi.
Best,
Bill
