UNITED STEELWORKERS LA/OC GIVE HARLEY ROUDA THE NOD IN CA-48 CONTEST
Heavyweight Endorsement Illustrates Rouda's Increasing Support Among Working People
LAGUNA BEACH, CA -- Serving as another sign of the expansive enthusiasum among working men and women surrounding his campaign to represent California's 48th Congressional District seat, today technology entrepreneur and Democrat Harley Rouda scored an endorsement from the United Steelworkers Los Angeles/ Orange Counties Legislative Education Committee.
The United Steelworkers join several other working families' organizations in backing Rouda for Congress, including: the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (UA) Local 582, International Union of Operating Engineers Local 12, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 441 and the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 36.
In announcing their support of Rouda, Dave Campbell, Secretary-Treasurer of the United Steelworkers Local 675 of Los Angeles/ Orange Counties remarked:
"The United Steelworkers Los Angeles/ Orange Counties Legislative Education Committee are proud to stand with Harley Rouda for Congress. We know he'll be a leader who will fight vigorously on behalf of working families, for more good paying middle class jobs, investments in infrastructure and job-training, as well as higher wages and benefits that ensure workers can retire with dignity. Plus, Harley's fierce advocacy for healthcare for all underscores his commitment to building a more compassionate, inclusive society that will benefit all Americans. We believe he's the best choice for the 48th District."
Nearly a month before the third quarterly fundraising quarter deadline, Rouda previously announced that he had raked-in a whopping $500,000 for his Congressional run. He plans to make his quarter three figures public in the coming days.
Recently, the Democrat made international waves after receiving threats from Wikileaks Founder Julian Assange, which followed a dynamite-infused Washington Post story titled, "Political opponent wants FBI to investigate Rohrabacher in wake of Assange meeting." The story stems from Democrat Rouda's request for America's top domestic law enforcement agency to look into Congressman Dana Rohrabacher's recent meeting with Assange, and to explore the possibility of any collusion with the Russians regarding the 2016 election.
Also, in recent weeks, Rouda picked up the potent endorsement of Dan Jacobson*, Chair of the Democratic Foundation, who wrote the following to Rouda: "Dear Harley, I write to strongly endorse your run for Congress in California’s 48th District. Your intelligence, toughness, and compassion will make you an excellent Congressman; and, your good heart makes me proud to endorse you."
So far Rouda has released two digital video ads, including a hard-hitting video, titled "2 Plans," where he slams incumbent Dana Rohrabacher for backing Trumpcare, also known as the House GOP's American Health Care Act (AHCA).
