Tompa Andrea író nyitja meg a 16. Verzió Nemzetközi Emberi Jogi Dokumentumfilm Fesztivált november 12-én este 7-kor a Trafó Kortárs Művészetek Házában. A nyitófilm a román Alexander Nanau Colectív című filmje, mely egy bukaresti szórakozóhelyen kiütött tűzvésztől a román egészségügyi rendszer bukásáig ívelő, oknyomozó doku.
A fesztivált idén Tompa Andrea író nyitja meg. Az ELTE orosz irodalom szakán végzett, majd színikritikusként kezdett dolgozni, a Színház folyóirat szerkesztője, majd főszerkesztője lett. Egy évtizede tanít a kolozsvári színművészeti egyetemen. Három regényt írt: A hóhér háza, Fejtől s lábtól, Omerta. Jelenleg a Közép-Európai Egyetemen ösztöndíjas rezidens író. Tompa Andrea így ajánlja a Verziót: "Ez a fesztivál arra emlékeztet mindannyiunkat, hogy az igazság létezik és érdemes keresni."
A 16. Verzió nyitóeseményének helyszíne ismét a Trafó lesz, ahol az Emmy-díjas román rendező, Alexander Nanau Colectív című filmjének vetítésével veszi kezdetét a mustra. 2015-ben egy tűzeset során 27 fiatal vesztette életét a bukaresti Colectív nevű szórakozóhelyen, majd további 37-en haltak meg a nem megfelelő kórházi kezelés és fertőzések miatt. A tragédiát tömegtüntetések követték, újságírók egy csoportja pedig nyomozásba kezdett, és feltárták a román egészségügy kiterjedt korrupciós hálózatát.
A Colectív szeptemberben debütált a Velencei Filmfesztiválon, Zürichben elnyerte a legjobb nemzetközi dokumentumfilmnek járó Golden Eye-díjat, és magyar premierje a Verzión lesz.
A Trafó szolgál helyszínéül az első hazai VR-filmes szekciónak is. A Vektor VR-szekció 9 virtuális valóság filmalkotást mutat be november 13. és 16. között. A VR-szemüveget felvéve azonosulhatunk a háború után hazatérő, a házában robbanó-szerkezetet kereső iraki apával a Home After War című filmben, vagy Gregor Samsával, Kafka Metamorfózisának rovarrá változó hősével. A programot VR alkotókkal és immerzív médiaszakér-tőkkel szervezett beszélgetések egészítik ki.
Különleges élményt ígér a Trafó nagytermében november 13-án este 7 órakor kezdődő Matangi / Maya / M.I.A. című dokumentumfilm, mely a sri lankai származású pop-ikonról, M.I.A-ről szól, aki folyamatosan szembemegy a hagyományokkal és sztárként sem fél kiállni fontos, akár megosztó ügyek mellett. A dinamikus, zenei betétekkel gazdagon tűzdelt filmben eddig soha nem látott, több évtizedet felölelő magánvideó felvételek is láthatók. Steve Loveridge személyes hangvételű portréja a 2018-as Sundance Filmfesztiválon a zsűri különdíját kapta. A film a Diák Verzió programjában is szerepel.
The writer Andrea Tompa opens the 16 th Verzió Film Festival at 7 pm on Tuesday, November 12, at Trafó House of Contemporary Arts. The opening film presents Alexander Nanau’s Colectív, an investigative documentary about a fatal nightclub fire in Bucharest resulting in the collapse of the Romanian health care system.
This year the festival will be opened by writer Andrea Tompa. She has a degree in Russian Studies from ELTE, Budapest, has worked as a theatre critic, and continues to serve as the editor-in-chief of the largest Hungarian theatre journal, Színház. She has lectured at the University of Theatre Arts in Cluj-Napoca, and has published three books: A hóhér háza, Fejtől s lábtól, Omerta. She is currently a resident writer at CEU.

The venue for the opening ceremony of 16th Verzió is yet again the Trafó House of Contemporary Arts, presenting the Romanian Alexander Nanau’s Colectív as the opening film. In 2015, 27 people perished in a tragic fire at the Romanian music club, Colectiv, and a shocking 37 more died in hospitals due to inadequate facilities and rampant infections. Following the tragedy, masses were taken to the streets in protest, and a team of investigative journalists started to uncover a vast corruption network in the health care system. Colectív had its world premier at Venice Film Festival in September, won the prize for the best international documentary in Zürich, and now will have its Hungarian premier at Verzió Film Festival.
Trafó will also host the very first VR Section, presented in Hungary. The Vector VR section shows 9 cinematographic works of virtual reality between November 13-16. VR glasses allows us to identify with an Iraqi father returning home after war, who searches for explosive devices in their house in Home After War, or with Gregor Samsa, the protagonist transformed into a giant insect in Kafka’s Metamorphosis. The VR program is complemented with discussions held with the filmmakers and immersive media experts.
Matangi / Maya / M.I.A., screened at 7 pm, on November 13, in Trafó’s big hall, offers a unique experience presenting the Sri Lankan pop icon who continues to shatter conventions and has no fear standing up for important but divisive causes. The dynamic film, rich in musical spots, includes never-before-seen personal footage that spans decades. The intimate portrait of Steve Loveridge won the World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award at Sundance Festival in 2018. The documentary will also be seen in the program of Student Verzió.
