As we reach the one-year anniversary of the COVID-19 shutdown – and this newsletter – we are encouraged by signs that a return to normal life is on the horizon. But we recognize this transition will be different for each family, and we know that learning happens at home in normal times, too. So At Home with Arizona PBS isn't going anywhere. Every Wednesday, we'll continue to bring you the latest news and supply free resources for families and educators.

Then head outdoors and track water flow in your neighborhood with this hands-on activity, "H20 on the Go." (Grades 1-4)

Creative writing challenge: Stories of rule-breaking women
Anne Bonny was one of the fiercest female pirates ever to sail the seas and a figure who defied her time stereotypes. Using Anne's story, prompt students to select another woman who defies stereotypes and write a creative narrative about her. Use this PBS NewsHour Extra lesson for grades 9-12 to challenge students' negative stereotypes towards women and allow them to use their creative writing skills to produce their profile on another "rule-breaking" woman in history.
