Our Challenges:
We got our butts kicked in the last election at all levels.
Our ability to develop and utilize intelligence was insufficient, particularly when compared to the Democrat’s ability to ballot harvest and utilize their vast array of political and institutional resources.
We also failed to mobilize groups such as the Tea Party, Republican Women’s Groups, religious institutions, and the various Hispanic, Asian, and African-American outreach organizations.
In order to combat the Democrats growing PR, news, and propaganda machine, we need to rebrand and adapt to an increasingly diverse and technologically advanced electorate while embracing our core conservative principles.
The team we build must be accountable, first and foremost, to the nation, our state, and our party (in that order), and not beholden to special interests.
My Solutions:
I have developed a comprehensive solution which I believe will help us with the most immediate goal: Winning electorally in the State of California.
The solution is comprised of a number of action items, including:
- Improve electoral intelligence gathering
- Develop and execute statewide ballot harvesting efforts
- Listen and give a voice to the grassroots, including the Tea Party, Republican Assembly, Republican Women’s Federated, Young Republicans, and the numerous other groups like Election Integrity Project California.
- Acquire, organize, and deploy the human, financial, and legal resources to fight local battles throughout California
- Recruit conservative creative professionals to develop and improve our brand and messaging
- Demand the CRP Board leverage its position to build and improve relationships with tech giants like Microsoft, Apple, Google, and Facebook to ensure that conservative voices are not silenced or censored
- Support the President when he pushes pro-conservative policy
- Refocus our outreach efforts to minorities, particularly those that have not traditionally voted Republican
- Support and develop organizations for young Republicans
- Devise and implement an aggressive litigation strategy to continually attack the Democrats' and their allies in the Secretary of State's office, the Attorney General's Office, the Governor's Office among others
My Qualifications and Experience:
I have spent nearly 12 years as an active member of the San Diego County Republican Party and have previously been a candidate for a local public school board. In addition, some of the ways I have been involved with and supported the party include:
- A delegate and a guest at numerous CRP conventions and two National Republican Presidential Conventions
- Outside counsel to the Election Integrity Project California and other private and public interest law firms (such as Judicial Watch) on matters relating to election integrity for over six years
- Outside counsel to the San Diego State College Republicans in their efforts to bring conservative speakers to campus and to prevent being labeled a “hate” group by organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center
- General Counsel and Secretary to at least four public and large private companies, two venture funds, and several non-profit entities
- Graduate of Cornell University, Yale Law School, Oxford University (as a Rhodes Scholar), and an MBA from the University of San Diego Business School
- Former Adjunct Professor of Law at Thomas Jefferson School of Law and the University of San Diego Law School
- Lecturer in Business at the Rady School of Business at UC San Diego and the Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life Sciences at the Claremont Colleges
- Happily married with two daughters
