KFF Briefing on 'Serious Illness in Late Life' Report
Tuesday, January 16
2:00pm ET
The Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) report “Serious Illness in Late Life: The Public’s Views and Experiences” examines the general public’s expectations around later life as well as the steps they’ve taken to plan for the possibility of serious illness. To gather information specific to living with serious illness, the researchers also surveyed 1,000 people and families dealing with serious illness. Key findings from the report include:
- There is a disconnect between what the public acknowledges as realities of serious illness and what they actively plan for
- Older adults living with serious illness commonly report needing more help than they receive
People with both serious illness and documents outlining care preferences more often report feeling that their wishes for medical care are being followed. Join C-TAC, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, and KFF for an exclusive brief on the findings. Participants will receive an overview of the report and will have the opportunity to engage with presenters and ask questions. Speakers will include:
- Bill Novelli, Co-Chair, C-TAC
- Stacey Bailey, Communications Officer, Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation
- Bianca DiJulio, Associate Director of Public Opinion and Survey Research, Kaiser Family Foundation
