EDUCATION WEEK

This week, Kimberly and Team BIZON will be focusing on Education.
"Education is the greatest gift that you can give a child"

With the reopening of the public schools on everyone's minds, we need to consider safety first. I was disappointed to learn that the current administration undermined the negotiations of Congress and the Senate and offered a solution that did not consider the extra burden of costs for our educational programs as well as threatening our states - that if they didn't open fully with onsite presence that his administration would take away their federal funding. This is absurd. We need more funding and resources for rural band internet in District 10. I do support each school district making those decisions with the community, but until we see Michigan's COVID-19 numbers come down, I think we should play it safe in my opinion. I am working with the NEA and MEA to fully understand their needs so when I am elected, we can support each other and find solutions together through these unprecedented times.

Kimberly has started her Community Outreach, here is where she has been since winning the Primary.

(Sunday) PICKETING WITH THE OPEIU LOCAL 40 AT 1PM
Nurses with the OPEIU will be picketing in Rochester to raise awareness of insufficient levels of PPE for our front line healthcare workers. These nurses are attempting to renew their fair contract and get sufficient coverage. Kimberly will be there with them in solidarity from 1pm-2pm/

UTICA SCHOOL BOARD MEETING ON MONDAY AT 7PM
To start Education Week, Kimberly will be joining the Utica School District to discuss the re-opening of schools during the COVID crisis.

CANDIDATE MEET-AND-GREET WITH THE TUSCOLA COUNTY DEMS ON FRIDAY AT 4:30
Tuscola County Democratic Party is hosting a Meet-And-Greet with Kimberly and Patrick Wood, running for State Representative in District 84, outdoors in Caro. Attendees are asked to wear a mask and bring a lawn chair, meeting at the parking lot of the new Tuscola County Dems HQ in Caro. Come and meet for a great question and answer session!

ONGOING OUTREACH: SEAWALL DETERIORATION
Kimberly and Team Bizon joined a concerned citizen in Algonac, Michigan. She had reached out expressing concern about the flooding and shoreline erosion happening in her neighborhood. After touring via kayak, Kimberly and the Team documented the damage and issues. Kimberly talked with many citizens and they basically "feel helpless". Kimberly will provide updates moving forward and will reach out to local officials to see what their "plan" consists of.

ONGOING MEETINGS WITH THE NEA AND MEA
Kimberly has started to build out on her promises by meeting with different persons on the MEA team. This week, she learned about the funding of the public school system and how the school re-opening will work.
