Open Innovation for Community Care

In OpenCare related news, CoM and WeMake are making a public call for community care solutions in anticipation of their final consortium meeting this November. If you are an organisation, individual or company involved in OpenCare now is your chance to submit your proposal. The deadline is September 30th, so don't wait to make your final submission.

"Opencare is an open project, shared with a global community working together to make healthcare and social care accessible to everyone, through working with open-source logic and by promoting ways of enhancing active individual and community participation using a collective intelligence platform."

If you are interested in attending, the final conference will take place in Milan at the Milano Luiss Hub for Makers and Students.

Starting September 16th Edgeryders will be hosting a series of workshops across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa & the United States. Because we know that diversity is critical, we are exploring how we can build “smart swarms” - decentralised strategic collaborations between of hundreds of small communities and organisations across countries and sectors. Join us if you wish to learn more about how Edgeryders is building such a solution and how your project or ideas can benefit from it.

Got 2 minutes? We would like your help in shaping these workshops by answering
this short questionnaire

Deadline for registration is one week before the workshop. We recommend that you do not leave it to the last minute - tickets are free of charge and we only can only fit 30 people in the venue, so they will vanish quickly. To get a ticket create an account on edgeryders.eu and tell us a little about yourself here. Do not leave it to the last minute. We have a highly limited number of free tickets available!

Fellowship Blog: Strategy & Labwork in August

In his latest blog post Winnie covers recent developments with the open science lab ReaGent, educational workshops with Ekoli and preparations for OpenVillage festival in October. Winnie has a lot going on and his latest post chronicles the sustainability challenges of running these projects in a profitable manner while relying on a mix of voluntary and paid work.
We held three strategic sessions (one for Ekoli and two for ReaGent), to determine our focus points for the coming year(s). We had been building plenty of science related content, activities and infrastructure since we started (2 years ago for ReaGent, just short of 1 year for Ekoli). We had been mainly acting on gut feel so far, but the time had come to evaluate and improve our actions.
In other very promising news, the Open Insulin network is also expanding to now include Oakland, Gent, Sydney and now Cork. You can read all about this and more in Winnie's latest fellowship post.

Speaking of fellowships...

Did you know we are now offering fellowships worth up to USD 20k to develop your own project? The deadline for applications is September 20th - just over two weeks away, so don't wait...

You can find out more about applying here and if there is anyone in your network who may be interested, be sure to share this with them:
